Collection: Banded Opal

This odd variety of opal occurs in a layered deposit, where colors are distributed in dense bands. The material is softer, just like most opal, and is easily polished into a glossy eye-popping combination of color play. Colors range through many varieties and hues of reds, and into various shades of orange, gold, yellow, pink and even a bubbly clear band. Cabochons made from this opal are absolutely stunning, and very fun to show off. Polished specimens really stand out in a cabinet display. All of our Banded Opal was mined years ago from a private claim in south-central Utah.
