Collection: Tiffany Stone

Tiffany Stone, also called "Bertrandite" is technically an opalized beryllium fluorite material, usually formed as nodules. The beautiful gemmy variety of these nodules occurs only in an isolated location in Utah's west desert, where a large open-pit mine is in operation to extract the element beryllium, which is used mainly in aerospace applications. The dominant color is a rich beautiful purple, but can also contain areas of pink, cream, black, and yellow, usually with mossy web-like patterns. This is a softer material, similar to the hardness of opal, but it polishes very nicely. Tiffany Stone is becoming much more scarce these days, and is considered a prize to collectors.
